Canvas Basics Training Workshops

For instructors, TA’s and staff members who have not used Canvas before or who need to brush up on their skills, at the beginning of each semester, we offer Canvas Basics workshops.  (See below)   For more information and to register, visit

  • How to take mobile device needs into your course design.
  • Upload and organize files in your Canvas course
  • Create Pages and Modules to present content to your students.
  • Use the built in dynamic Syllabus tool.

  • Weight your grades by assignment groups. g. Exams 50%, Papers 25%
  • Exclude a student from a course assignment.
  • Assign an assignment to certain students in your course.
  • Drop the lowest score in an assignment group.

  • Calculate final letter grades for your students. At the end of the semester final grades can be imported into ARIESweb.

In the CSU My Learning Bridge system:

  1. At the top left, click Learning Library.
  2. In the search box type: canvas
  3. At the top of the course card click Enroll.
  4. To the right of the course click Register.
  5. Click Register.
