Course Surveys Automatically Activated
Course surveys for 16-week courses will be automatically activated, usually for the last week of classes and finals week. For questions regarding the course survey, please contact the Course Survey Team.
Review Cross-Listed Courses and Final Exam Schedule
If you have cross-listed sections in a Canvas course, different sections in your course likely have different final exam times. You can use the Differentiated Assignment feature to set different due/availability dates for different sections for the same exam.
Check Course Grading Schemes
Every Canvas course has a grading scheme turned on by default with the grades that are acceptable at CSU. Instructors can modify, turn off, or create their own course grading scheme.
Import Canvas Final Letter Grades into ARIESweb
Spring 2025 final grades are due Tuesday May 20, 2025, by 2 pm.
Instructors can upload a file which contains their Canvas final grades into ARIESweb. Prior to exporting the file, any missing assignments in your Canvas gradebook should be given a 0 or an Ex (for excused). This will ensure the grades in Canvas are consistent with the grades entered in ARIESweb.
Set Missing Assignment Grades to Zero or Excused
For missing assignments, you can:
- Set the default grade in a column to be 0.
- Excuse an assignment for a student by entering an Ex in the gradebook, or set the status to excused
- Set a grade for all assignments in an assignment group

Incompletes
Our Extended Course Access page shows how to create an Incomplete section in your Canvas course to provide continued access to only the student(s) who need to complete an Incomplete.
Allow Student “Read Only” Access to a Previous Course
Canvas courses close automatically to student access 2 – 3 weeks after a semester ends. Instructors can choose to allow students to have continued “read only” access to a previous semester’s course, which will allow students the ability view course materials. Students will not be able to complete assignments or see quiz questions.
