Course Ownership and Life Cycle

Please refer to Faculty Manual – Section J for rights and responsibilities related to creative works.

Course Creation

Courses are created systematically in Canvas for all graded sections.

Teaching Assignments and Enrollments

Instructors will see their courses in Canvas after their Department Scheduler enters teaching assignments into ARIESweb.

Enrollments for instructors and students are synced from ARIESweb (CSU’s student information system), three times daily, Monday – Saturday, and twice on Sundays. Other users with a CSU NetID can be enrolled manually.

Content Preparation

Instructors prepare course content by either developing it new right in their teaching shell, or copying course content from a previous course.

Course Dates for Students

Courses open/close systematically for students, at the start/end dates on the course. Instructors can adjust the start/end dates to allow student access earlier or later.
