SameSite Cookie Security Setting

Starting on February 17, 2020, the release of Chrome version 80 will bring enhanced security in the form of checking for SameSite Cookies. Unfortunately, this new setting may prevent certain web pages from opening, including links within Canvas to external tools or videos.  Other web browsers are expected to implement this same policy in the near future.  What’s a browser cookie?

Recommendation:
If you encounter a concern with the new Chrome version, temporarily switch to Firefox.

If, after updating Chrome, you can no longer open a Canvas link to an external tool, please switch temporarily to the Firefox web browser.  Vendors are working to make their products compatible with the new version of Chrome, but it may take a few weeks to get things working correctly.

2nd Recommendation:  Have a cookie!
